0107A ORDINANCE 107-A AN ORDINANCE AMENDING PARAGRAPH 4. OF ORDINANCE 107 OF THE CITY OF SOUTHLAKE,TEXAS BY PROVIDING FOR ELECTION OF THE MUNICIPAL COURT CLERK AND A DEPUTY CLERK SOLELY BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUPHLAKE,TEXAS IN LIEU OF THE CITY SECRETARY BEING EX OFFICIO 14LUICIPAL COURT CLERK; AND FURTHER PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE OF THIS SAID AMENDMENT['. WHEREAS, Title 28, Chapter 16, Article 1200, Vernon-s Civil Statutes of Texas, as amended, grants the governing body of a General Law City the discretion to elect by such governing body a Mumicipal Court Clerk or to allow the City Secretary to be ex officio Municipal Court Clerk; and, WHEREAS, the City Council of Southlake, Texas desires to elect such clerk and/or any deputy clerk; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Southlake, Texas: 1. That the existing Paragraph 4. of Ordinance 107 of the City of Southlake, Texas is hereby revoked and replaced by the following Article 4.: "4. A Clerk for the Municipal Court of the City of Southlake, Texas shall be elected by the governing body of the said City at the same time at which the Recorder of said Court is elected and the said governing body shall also have authority to elect a deputy court clerk, with the terms of such offices to run according to applicable law and with vacancies in such offices to be filled in accordance with applicable law and with any deputy clerk elected having the same powers as the clerk of the said Municipal Court." This Amendment to Ordinance 107 shall become effective and be in full force and effect immediately upon its adoption. ADOPTED this lst day of November, 1977.
