0067 ORDINANCE NO. 67 AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING THAT CERTAIN OFFICES OF THE TOWN, OTHER THAN MAYOR AND TOWN COUNCILMEN, SHALL BE APPOINTIVE INSTEAD OF ELECTIVE; PRO- VIDING THAT ALL ORDINANCES, OR PARTS THEREOF, IN CONFLICT HEREWITH ARE HEREBY REPEALED; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, Title 28, Chapter 2, Article 977, of the 1925 Revised Civil Statutes, as amended by the Acts of 1949, 51st Legislature, Page 375, Chapter 199, Section 1, provides that each municipality in Texas, operating under the General Law of the State, other than the officers provided in Ordinance No. 66 adopted this date, the following additional officers: A Town Secretary, a Treasurer, an Assessor and Collector, a City Attorney, a Marshal, an Engineer, and such other officers and agents as the Town Council may from time to time direct, who may either be appointed or elected as provided by Ordinance; and, WHEREAS, this Town Council deems it to the best interest of the Town and its inhabitants, to make all of such offices appointive; BE IT ORDAINED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF SOUTHLAKE, TEXAS: 1. FROM and after the effective date hereof the office of Marshal shall be an elective office which office shall be for a term of two years; offices such as the Town Secretary, Treasurer, Assessor and Collector, Town Attorney, Town Engineer and such other officers and agents as the Town Council may from time to time direct shall be appointive instead of elective, and shall be appointed by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the Town Council. The Town Council may confer the powers and duties of one or more of these offices upon other officers of the Town. 2. ALL ordinances and parts of ordinances„ and all resolutions and parts thereof, in conflict herewith, are hereby expressly repealed. 3. THIS ordinanceshall become effective and be in full force and effect onthe day of February, A. D. 1957• ADOPTED this day of February, A. D. 1957• APPROVED, ATTEST; MAYOR
