ORDINANCE NO. 951
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 2, "ADMINISTRATION" OF
THE SOUTHLAKE CITY CODE (1996), AS AMENDED, TO ESTABLISH
THE DEPARTMENT OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY; PROVIDING
THAT THIS ORDINANCE SHALL BE CUMULATIVE OF ALL
ORDINANCES; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Southlake, Texas is a home rule city acting under its chapter
adopted by the electorate pursuant to Article XI, Section 5 of the Texas Constitution and Chapter
9 of the Local Government Code; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 4.01 of the Southlake City Charter, the City Council
has the power by Ordinance to establish administrative departments; and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to establish the Department of Information
Technology to be headed by a Director of Information Technology.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SOUTHLAKE:
SECTION 1. ADMINISTRATIVE DEPARTMENTS
That Section 2-106 of Chapter 2 of the Southlake City Code is hereby amended to read as
follows:
"As provided by section 4.01 of the city charter, the city council hereby
establishes the following administrative departments: department of general
government, to be headed by the city manager; department of public safety, to be
headed by the director of public safety; department of public works, to be headed
by the director of public works; department of finance, to be headed by the
director of finance; department of planning, to be headed by the director of
planning; department of community services, to be headed by the director of
community services; department of economic development, to be headed by the
director of economic development; and department of information technology, to
be headed by the director of information technology."
SECTION 2. CUMULATIVE CLAUSE
This ordinance shall be cumulative of all provisions of ordinances of the City of
Southlake, Texas except where the provisions of this ordinance are in direct conflict with the
provisions of such ordinance, in which event the conflicting provisions of such ordinances are
hereby repealed.

SECTION 3. EFFECTIVE DATE
This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval,
and it is so ordained.
