SIGN VARIANCE APPLICATION
Demonstration
Mease dennonstrate that the following conditions area pp I icab I a to the regue5tad sign variance:
That a literal enforcement of the sign regulation will create an unnecessary hardship or practical
difficulty on t he a ppl icant.
MMC believes that we have a deficiency on our ability to communicate to the public that we have a
full} functional ER at the back of the East side of our buildirig. We have been unable to add
appropriate ER signage to our marquee sign or to add additional ER signage to the front of the
hospital. People traveling Easton 114 cannot see that we have an ER at the back of the building.
We feel that it is our responsibility to communicate the presence of our ER to the corrrnunity tramming
both East and West on 114.
2. That the situation causing the unnecessary hardship or practical difficulty is uniquetotheaffected
property and is not self imposed.
M MC has been limited in the ERsignage we've been permitted to add toourhospitaI. Ideally, we
would have larger signage at bath entrances to the parking lot. We sought to remedy this lack of
signage and lack of community awareness with 5 light pole banners. They were installed in an effort
to add v is ibility tot he ER especially for East bound traffic on 114.

The pole banners in question are in the parking lotof Methodist Southlake Medical C.8AIWandin no way
impeaethe view to neighboring properties. Methodist Health Systems owns the Iandto 11taMAtof the
hospital arA the closest business on the East side of the hospital is far enough away to not be effected by
any of the hospital's signage.
4. That the variance will be in harmony with the spiritand purpose of the sign ordinance.
The light pole banners are 14.C6 Sq Feet per sign face and one per light pole. The tanners do not interfere
with any aujacent properties and maintain and enhance tie aesti--bcs of the community. They we re created
by an reputable auvertisirg agency and were safely and securely installed by NJ Graphic design, Inc.
