A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SOUTHLAKE, TEXAS, APPOINTING A CITY COUNCILMEMBER
TO THE METROPORT TEEN COURT ADVISORY BOARD TO FILL
AN UNEXPIRED TERM; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Teen Court is a volunteer program which allows juvenile misdemeanor offenders
an alternative to the criminal justice system while allowing them an opportunity to assume
responsibility for their own actions; and,
WHEREAS, Teen Court brings juvenile offenders to a jury of their peers and to the
community for constructive punishment which will provide the youths with an understanding of the
judicial system and a realization of their roles in their community; and,
WHEREAS, the Teen Court Advisory Board is comprised of nine (9) members; two (2)
members at large appointed by each City (Southlake, Colleyville, and Grapevine) and one (1) City
Council liaison from each participating city; and,
WHEREAS, the term of City Council liaison Keith Shankland is vacant until May 2007; now,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SOUTHLAKE, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. All of the above premises are found to be true and correct and are hereby incorporated
into the body of the resolution as if copied in their entirety.
SECTION 2. The City Council appoints the following member to serve on the Teen Court Advisory
Board.
Laura K. Hill (City Council liaison - unexpired term ends in May 2007)
SECTION 3. That this resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage and approval.
