2004-011WL id RESOLUTION NO. 04-011 OFFICIAL RECORD A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTHLAKE, TEXAS, ADOPTING REVISIONS TO THE'SOUTHLAKE PUBLIC LIBRARY'S LOAN LENGTHS POLICY INCREASING THE MAXIMUM LIMIT OF ITEMS ON A PER CARDHOLDER BASIS, AND REMOVING THE RESTRICTION ON RENEWING NEW BOOKS AND BOOKS ON - TAPE; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City of Southlake (the "City") strives to achieve the maximum efficiency and effectiveness in the delivery of services to its residents; and WHEREAS, the City Council established policies for the Southlake Public Library (the Library") prior to the opening of the facility in order to provide systematic and consistent guidance in the administration of providing library services; and WHEREAS, the City recognizes that the Library has a responsibility to provide materials to satisfy the demand of consumers, and to make those items available as often and quickly as possible; and WHEREAS, the City recognizes that in order for the Library to more efficiently provide materials and excellent Customer Service that it is necessary to raise the limit on the number of materials available to be checked -out on a per cardholder basis; and WHEREAS, the City recognizes that the Library currently has an effective method of measuring and satisfying demand for materials and it is no longer necessary to restrict the renewal of new books, or Books on Tape; and WHEREAS, the City recognizes that the Library will maintain restrictions on DVD, Video and Music CD's to allow only 3 of each type to be checked out per cardholder at one time; and WHEREAS, The City recognizes that the Library's current Loan Lengths Policy is stifling the potential for short and long term growth and a continued and growing relevance in the community; and WHEREAS, The City desires to establish these revisions in the current Loan Lengths Policy to provide systematic and consistent guidance in the administration of these desired policy goals; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTHLAKE, THAT: Section 1: T he C ity o f S outhlake h ereby a dopts t he p roposed r evisions t o t he Library's Loan Lengths Policy increasing the maximum limit of items on a per cardholder basis, and removing the restriction on renewing new books and Books on Tape, a copy of which is attached hereto as Exhibit "A" and which is incorporated by reference herein.
