2002-073N 2_ OFFICIAL -RECORDRESOLUTIONO.0 073 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SOUTHLAKE, TEXAS, TRANSFERRING THE DUTIES OF LOCAL REGISTRAR FOR VITAL STATISTICS FOR THE PORTION OF SOUTHLAKE WITHIN DENTON COUNTY TO THE DENTON COUNTY CLERK AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, since 1987, the City Secretary has served as Local Registrar for the City of Southlake, Texas, for the purposes of registering births and deaths within in territorial limits; and, WHEREAS, in accordance with Section 191.023 of the Texas Health and Safety Code, these duties may be transferred to the county in which a municipality is located; and, WHEREAS, the City of Southlake has requested that the County Clerk assume the duties imposed by law relating to the maintenance of birth and death records of the City of Southlake, and the County Clerk has certified that her office has sufficient resources and finances to assume these duties; and, WHEREAS, the Commissioners Court of Denton County, Texas, has approved a resolution authorizing the transfer of these duties to the County Clerk; now, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTHLAKE, TEXAS, THAT: Section 1. In accordance with Section 191.023 of the Texas Health and Safety Code, the City Council elects to transfer the duties imposed by law relating to the maintenance of birth and death records of the City of Southlake, Texas, to Cynthia Mitchell, County Clerk of Denton County, Texas. Section 2. The transfer of records shall occur by December 31, 2002. Section 3. This resolution is effective upon passage by the City Council. PASSED AND APPROVED THIS THE 17th DAY OF DECEMBER 2002.
