2000-090r„ RESOLUTION NO. 00-90 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTHLAKE, TEXAS, DESIGNATING THE SOUTHLAKE PUBLIC LIBRARY" AS THE OFFICIAL NAME OF THE CITY OF SOUTHLAKE LIBRARY. WHEREAS, on October 20, 1998, the City Council of the City of Southlake, Texas, passed Ordinance No. 716 establishing a Library Board; and, WHEREAS, the City Council charged the Library Board with acting in an advisory capacity to the City Council in matters relating to library facility planning, policies, and programming; and, WHEREAS, the library has been commonly, yet unofficially, referred to as the Southlake Public Library" by the Library Board, general public, and various agencies and organizations; and, WHEREAS, the Library Board recommends the "Southlake Public Library" as the official name for the library as it is easily recognizable to the public and representative of the community for which it serves; and, WHEREAS, the Library Board at their August 23, 2000 meeting approved Library Board Resolution No. 00-01 recommending that the City Council officially designate the "Southlake Public Library" as the name for the new library. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTHLAKE, TEXAS THAT: Section 1. That all matters stated in the preamble of this resolution are true and correct and are hereby incorporated into the body of this resolution as it is copied in its entirety. Section 2. It is the opinion of the City Council that the City library be officially recognized as the "Southlake Public Library." Section 3. That the City of Southlake authorizes and directs that this action be made part of the City's permanent record. Section 4. That this resolution become effective from and after the date of its passage.
