A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE INTRODUCTION AND PASSAGE OF
LEGISLA'T'ION AUTHORIZING THE HOLDING OF A CITYWIDE LOCAL
OPTION ELECTION TO ALLOW THE SALE OF BEER AND WINE FOR
OFF-PRFI ITSE CONSUMPTION.
WHEREAS, the City of Southlake*is'a home rule municipality located in Tarrant and
Denton Counties; and
WHEREAS, the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Code governs the holding of local option
elections for citizens to approve or prohibit the sale of alcoholic beverages; and
WHEREAS, the Alcoholic Beverage Code does not permit the holding of a citywide
local option election by a municipality that is located in more than one county; and
WHEREAS, the city council deems it in the best interest of the citizens to seek the
introduction and passage of legislation authorizing the citizens of Southlake to determine
whether to allow the sale of beer and wine for off -premise consumption only on a citywide
basis.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF TBE CITY
OF SOUTHIAKE, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1.
The City of Southlake supports the introduction and passage of legislation which
would authorize the city to conduct a citywide election for the sale of beer and wine for off -
premise consumption only.
