1986-047RESOLUTION 86-47 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTHLAKE, TEXAS, PRO- VIDING TIIAT THE CITY OF SOUTHLAKE, TEXAS, SU1111ORTS AND ENDORSES TI1L• ACQUISITION OF A RAILROAD GRADE CROSSING FOR EXTENSION OF CONTINENTAL ROAD. WHEREAS, it is in the interest of safety and future mobility of the citizens of the City of Southlake that Continental Road be extended to connect Continental Road and State High- way 26; and, WHEREAS, this extension of Continental Road has been designat- ed on the approved plan of the Heritage Business Park; and, WHEREAS, there exists a high need to complete Continental Road across the St. Louis and Southwestern Railway tracks in the extra territorial jurisdiction of the City of South - lake; and, WHEREAS, the City of Grapevine has endorsed and does support the extension of Continental Road to State Highway 26 through the intersection of the St. Louis and Southwestern Railway; and, WHEREAS, the extension of Continental Road will provide a much needed link between the City of Grapevine and the City of Southlake; and, WHEREAS, the City of Southlake supports and endorses the location of such a facility; and, WHEREAS, the City of Grapevine agrees to take a leading role in acquiring the railroad crossing; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF SOUTHLAKE TEXAS THAT: Section 1. The City of Southlake, Texas hereby endorses and supports the extension of Continental Road south to State Highway 26. Section 2. The City of Southlake does hereby state its intension to take whatever legal steps are required and to use, if necessary, its power of eminent domain to acquire the needed right of way for the extension of Continental Road on the across the St. Louis and South- western Railway is authorized and directed to communicate the City's necessary parties and to enter into discussions and negotiations with said parties to effectuate the extension and acquisition.
