A RESOLUTION PLACING A TEMPORARY MORATORIUM OF 60
DAYS UPON THE ISSUANCE OF ANY SPECIAL USE PERMITS
FOR SIGNS WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF
SOUTHLAKE DURING THE CONDUCTING OF A STUDY FOR A
COMPREHENSIVE SIGN ORDINANCE AND THE
IMPLEMENTATION THEREOF.
WHEREAS the City of Southlake acting by and through the City
Council of such city desires to study the future needs and plans of
such city regarding the use and display of advertising signs of
any nature within such city limits and within the extra -territorial
boundaries of such city and to update and revise the present sign
ordinance of said city; and
WHEREAS the City Council of the City of Southlake in order to
effect a uniform implementation of all future sign placement, size
and content of message desires to place a moratorium upon the
I ' issuance of any permits for the display of signs until a
comprehensive sign ordinance can be developed, studied and passed by
the said City Council after 'review by appropriate commissions,
committees and subcommittees of such city;
NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Council for the City
of Southlake, Texas that a moratorium upon the issuance of permits
for the placement of signs within the city limits of said city be
placed into effect beginning on the date of the passage of this
resolution and that said resolution apply to any applications
presently pending or which are received after the date of the passage
of this resolution and that such moratorium be in effect for a period
of 60 days unless otherwise extended upon reasonable cause by the
City Council or unless a Comprehensive Sign Ordinance is enacted and
placed into effect prior to the exiration of such period of time, and
that the'City Council implement and take every action necessary and
required to place into effect a new Comprehensive Sign Ordinance
governing the placement, size and message content, so far as legally
possible, for all signs to be located within the city limits of the
City of Southlake, Texas or within its extra -territorial
jurisdiction.
Adopted this day of —C' 1986 by a vote of
the City Concil of the City of Southlake, Texas, ayes,
cs nayes, and abstaining.
