Requested: Approve the purchase of Cisco SMARTnet from Presidio in an
amount not to exceed $109,000.
Background
Information: The purpose of this item is to seek approval of the purchase
of SMARTnet support from Cisco.
Cisco SMARTnet is a technical support service that will
provide direct, anytime access to Cisco engineers and
extensive Cisco.com resources. These capabilities provide an
assurance of business safety and continuity within critical
parts of the network environment. The city’s network
infrastructure is all CISCO products and this service is crucial
to guarantee the health and safety of city business.
Financial
Considerations: SMARTnet support was included in the FY 2021 General
Fund Information Technology department budget.
Strategic Link: This agenda item is linked to the Southlake Strategy Map
through the following objectives:

Citizen Input/
Board Review: No requirement exists to review the purchase with citizens or
boards.
Legal Review: No requirement exists to review the purchase with the City

Alternatives: The alternative to approving the proposal would be denying
the proposal and operate the network/technology
infrastructure without CISCO expert technical support.
