17-02 RESOLUTION NO. 17-02 A RESOLUTION OF THE CRIME CONTROL AND PREVENTION DISTRICT BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF SOUTHLAKE, TEXAS, DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE MAY 6, 2017, SPECIAL ELECTION HELD TO DETERMINE WHETHER THE VOTERS DESIRE TO CONTINUE THE LEVY OF A SALES AND USE TAX TO SUPPORT THE CRIME REDUCTION PROGRAMS OF THE SOUTHLAKE CRIME CONTROL AND PREVENTION DISTRICT. WHEREAS, there was a Special Election held in the City of Southlake, Texas on May 6, 2017, to determine whether the voters of the City of Southlake desire to continue the levy of a sales and use tax to support the crime reduction programs of the Southlake Crime Control and Prevention District; and, WHEREAS, there were a total of 3,459 ballots cast in Tarrant County and Denton County as shown on the official election results hereto and lawfully submitted to the Crime Control and Prevention District Board of Directors of the City of Southlake, Texas, and filed with the City Secretary of said City; and, WHEREAS, only duly qualified resident electors of said City voted in said election, and said election was called and held in strict conformity with the laws of the State of Texas; and, WHEREAS, the results of said election were duly canvassed by the Crime Control and Prevention District Board of Directors of the City of Southlake, Texas, on May 15, 2017, and showed the following results for Tarrant County and Denton County combined: Proposition Absentee Early Election Day Total "Whether the Southlake Crime Control For=2,764 and Prevention District should be For-0 For= 1,992 For= 772 continued for 20 years and the crime Against=632 control and prevention district sales Against= 5 Against= Against=215 tax should be continued for 20 years." 412 Approved by a total number of 2,132 ballots NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CRIME CONTROL AND PREVENTION DISTRICT OF THE CITY OF SOUTHLAKE, TEXAS, THAT: Section 1. The above canvass is approved, declaring the following proposition approved by the voters: "Whether the Southlake Crime Control and Prevention District should be continued for 20 years and the crime control and prevention district sales tax should be continued for 20 years." Section 2. Attached to this resolution are the cumulative reports from Tarrant County and Denton County. Section 3. The City Secretary is directed to immediately send to the comptroller by certified or registered mail, a certified copy of this resolution, along with a map of the City of Southlake clearly showing its boundaries.
